Your help is needed. Currently, there is a bill in the State House that would grant an ID for Paroled or Released inmates. This ID is needed to help them get a job and support themselves without having to turn back to crime and victimize someone else. As hard as it is to fathom, currently the State does not provide the basic documents needed to get a job when released. Instead they make the man getting out wait weeks before he can scramble around and get an ID so he can get a social security card and a driver's license.

The proposed bill HB 2161 Leg. Section 81(R) "Relating to the issuance of a personal identification certificate to present or former inmates of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice."
